Pintura Y Lapiz: DIY Card
Using vegetable as a stamp is a form of art which dates back to my elementary school days. Commonly utilized were cuts of okra or celery stalk dunked on paint and pressed on paper to reveal a beautiful pattern. Basic shapes such as a daisy or a butterfly were my first obra maestras, under this technique. Pure joy for a tot and a proud moment to present to parents.
I got the idea to revive this simple and fun art style while slicing bunches of bokchoy at my kitchen one day. The chopped end of this leafy veggie, displayed a beautiful rose shape pattern. Saved few of these pretty ends, and with childlike excitement, rushed to complete my cooking and disappeared in my craft nook.
I opted to make a card to mail to Mom on mother's day. The activity might be childish, but the challenge was to execute it maturely, while reliving the fun I experienced doing this as a kid. With roses as a subject in mind, pink and purple shades were mixed on my watercolor palette.
Here's how I did it and the finished design in pictures....
